On the way up there, Thomas, Cathy's husband and mastermind of the surprise, wanted me to text him updates along the way. He was a basket case, so we had some fun at his expense. We told him we were checking in along the way on Facebook, hashtagging Cathy on Twitter, etc. We told him we were stopping along the way to shop and eat and things like this. All in good fun. But, in reality, we arrived on time and were there for the surprise at lunch!
Needless to say, Cathy WAS surprised!
Jon was the rouse. He has a cousin that lives near Cathy, who just so happened to have a baby recently. So he came up "to see the baby" - which he actually did do, but then it was easy to get her out to a restaurant to see Jon.
the lighting in the room was challenging for this amateur
it did not stop anyone from visiting and catching up, though!
Thomas, explaining how he pulled it off.
People went around the room telling how they knew Cathy.
One story involved hacked email - here she was saying,
"She hacked into my email..."
Here, Madeleine relayed a great story about something she did with Cathy when she was small, and now she does the same thing with her girls. Very sweet.
Marion got up to say how she knew her Mom, and that her Mom doesn't know about basketball.
Cute.
Lilly LOVED spending time with Tricia.
One of Cathy's friends from high school made these yummy cupcakes!
Then Lilly took some photos...

After lunch, we went to Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. I'll cover that in another post. In the evening, we ate pizza and visited back at Cathy and Thomas's house. Here are some photos from that gathering as well:
Cathy opened some presents!
We watched old band videos.
And we talked about old times. Fun.
OK, and then we ate breakfast on Sunday morning together before heading home:
Of course Lilly sat near Tricia!
And we took a few group shots before hitting the road.
Great weekend.
See you soon.
