Hiatus

IMG_5748 (by Ateupamateur)

Last year, January was a tough month for me on the blog. Not much was going on and it was hard to come up with a post every day.

This January, I am going to be busy, but not with blog-interesting stuff. I'll be teaching a class at SMU for one, and will be busy at my "real job" as well. But we, generally speaking, don't have a lot of activities planned for the month that will be blog-worthy.

So, I am going to try a little bit of a hiatus for the month of January. I will post from time to time when I have something to say - and you know I will have something to say - but I am not going to post every day this month. At the end of the month, I will evaluate this little experiment and move forward.

I have some posts I still need to get up from the holidays. I have some posts about food. I have some posts I haven't even dreamed up yet. Just not everyday posts. That's the only change.

The good news is, if you subscribe to or follow this blog and other blogs you read, you just have to sign in to see if any of your blogs have posted and go there directly. If you don't subscribe, I hope you'll check back from time to time to see what is new. And I hope you won't hate me for this little change this month. If you don't hate me, I won't hate you. Deal? Deal. Good. Glad we have that settled.

So there you have it. I'm going on a little hiatus for the start of 2010.

Happy January. See you later.

Happy New Year!

IMG_5741 (by Ateupamateur)

I hope the ringing in of the new year was kind to you. I hope you are going to be able to enjoy a day off. And I hope you can use the day to reflect on the kind of year you hope this new one will be. Take time to make resolutions you might keep. Catch up with an old friend. Sleep. Take down the Christmas decorations. Whatever is on the agenda, I hope the New Year is kind to you on Day One. Best wishes for the rest of it, too, of course!

Happy Friday. See you next week.

Monday after Christmas

12.26.09 036
We missed the first White Christmas in 86 years in Dallas!

It's the Monday after Christmas and all through our home, the creatures are stirring to greet the caregivers while I write this poem.

We've had a great time in Indy with my fam, but today we'll head back to Dallas with little glitz and glam.

While here, we played with the kids, fed the less fortunate and watched it snow, opened presents and visited with the grown ups so we're more in the know.

12.26.09 042
My mother-in-law sent these photos to us, though.
The snow didn't slow down the dogs!

We caught up on the gossip and some much needed rest as well. It's nice everyone had some time off before they again have to hear that school or work bell.

My dad's off to Florida and Torchy too, with visions of warm nights and shuffleboard. Woo-hoo!

We had a nice Christmas and S's birthday, with the best gift of time with loved ones - what more can I say?

12.26.09 039
The backyard was covered too, of course.

I have lots to share as this year comes to an end. I wish you a wonderful Monday and will see you here tomorrow, my friend!

And that ends the misery - the end of bad poetry. Amen.
