Sorry I haven't blogged in a while. We are Colorado for our annual work trip to Vail. We drove through Colorado Springs after the fires began but before they got so horrible. We have had good but dry weather up here, with, fingers crossed, no fires nearby. But, I have had altitude sickness, a cold, pink eye, a sinus infection, a migraine headache that landed me in the hospital for a few hours, some stomach issues, and well, general malaise. So, I'll end this pity party now, but sister, I haven't felt like doing much of anything, let alone getting online. I haven't taken a whole lot of photos either, as you might imagine, but here are a couple snapped with the camera phone:
On the way up the boy was very good.
He slept a lot.
This was on a Cracker Barrel breakfast stop in Wichita Falls, TX
Upon arrival in Vail, the boys hit the playground.
Hitting the trails - no sickness for them.
Eating blue ice cream.
Which got everywhere.
And produced green poop. Ahem.
Alright, that's it for now. Off to work for me. Hope to see you again soon!
In May, I got this hair brained idea that I wanted to have my work friends over for an end of season party. That party came to fruition last weekend. There were a few people who could not attend, and we missed them, but we had a fun time with those would could come! The food ended up to be great and everyone seemed to have a nice time. Most of the photos I took while we were setting up - but I did remember to take a couple during the party. Here they are:
The Little Man helped us set up.
It was pretty warm out in the backyard while we were setting up on Saturday afternoon. We were a little concerned it would not cool off enough to make it bearable out there for a party by 6pm. But, it did. There was a nice breeze and it seemed to be a pleasant evening.
S strung up our Christmas lights and we added some paper lanterns for a bit of ambiance.
We rented tables, chairs and linens.
I bought those flowers and balloons.
The balloons, due to the wind, ended up off the tables pretty quick.
Here, he was telling me, "No picture, Mommy!"
The fourth table was "overflow" so S and LM hung out there.
It was nice to see some of my co-worker's families, too.
Since the balloons were off the tables, they became great playthings for the boy.
In fact, Victor shot a great video of the boy and the balloons. Once I can edit down a clip small enough to upload, I'll show it to you!
He carried the balloons all over the yard.
He also played in the ice!
Then he and Karen had a blast pushing the balloons away.
Multi-tasking - eating ice, kicking the balloons...
Oh, Mama, if you could only get the focus right...
OK, so apparently, most of the photos I took were of the boy and the balloons...ha.
There was, of course, dessert!
I love how everyone is smiling and visiting here.
It was such a fun thing for us to host, and it seemed everyone had a nice time, too. I'm glad we did it! Best wishes for your weekend!
I mentioned in the Father's Day post that we checked out the local "sprayground" - at least that's what the city calls them. There is actually one closer to us that is closed for repairs right now, so we drove a little further north to check this one out. I had just the cell phone camera, so here are the photos:
Of course, on Sunday, we celebrated Father's Day. The Little Man and I bought cards and gifts for Daddy, and he and Daddy made some biscuits for breakfast, one of their favorite activities together. Then, we checked out the local spray ground, which we had not been to before. (I'll show that to you on another day.) After lunch and nap time, where we all napped for a bit, we got cleaned up and went to Nonna and Papaw's house for a family get together. It was a good day:
"golfing" with the uncles
More decorations on the table!
We bribed them with a video while we finished dinner.
LM was the least interested, but he went along with it.
