A New Year's Lunch

The table was set.

Last year we had some friends over around New Year's for lunch. Some of those gathered live out of town, and some live here. Those of us who live here seem to have a hard time getting together unless someone comes in from out of town!

I made the salad. Tomatoes, Gorgonzola, walnuts.
One of my favorites.

This year, I contacted the same set of friends to see if they wanted to make it a repeat. Unfortunately, our friends from out of town weren't coming into town for the holiday this year. We, the Dallas group, decided to meet anyway.

Some of S's pasta, waiting to go into the hot water.

S made his family's spaghetti sauce and homemade pasta for this year's lunch. It seemed to be a hit. And, of course, getting together to catch up once a year is a good thing to do, too.

Before lunch, Kathy and her son Blake checked out our toybox.

They found a set of disguises in the box.
Here, Jon was readying his phone for a photo.

The box of disguises came with instructions, which Jon read to us.

Then we ate - I think Jon had more fun than this photo might suggest.

Tricia and Wayne rounded out the party.
No, we haven't done anything with the wallpaper yet.
Thanks for noticing.

Thanks, everyone, for stopping by for lunch. We missed you, out-of-towners. We'll have to do it again - at least once a year!
