Introducing Dexter

Last November, I shared with you photos from my friend Deborah's baby shower. Well, the very special baby arrived last Friday at 10:01 a.m.! Robert Dexter ("Dexter" or "Dex") and his mama and daddy Deborah and John are doing just fine. He was 7lbs, 11oz at birth, and 19 1/4 inches long. We went by to see them briefly on Saturday, and here are the photos to prove it!

They were in a very nice hospital room.

And the baby was properly ID'd.

Deborah had received several nice floral arrangements...

...and so had Dexter.

Daddy John was operating on very little sleep.

John decided to stay in the room with Deborah and the baby the first night. The rooms, which were very nice and recently remodeled, had a bench on the side that pulled out, sort of like a futon, so the dads can stay in the room.

The Pain Scale

Well, John didn't get much sleep there. It wasn't the best location for sleep, apparently. And it killed his back. The next morning, he was reading off his pain level according to the scale on the wall above his not-so-comfortable bed.

Deborah looked great and was keeping careful watch over Dexter.

Oh, what's that? You mean you want to see photos of the baby? Oh, of course. OK. Here you go.

He was asleep while we were there.

He's got a full head of hair!

John even joked he might need a haircut soon!

He was wrapped tight into a baby burrito.

And has such a sweet face.

Look at that precious shadow!

Just a beautiful and perfect little boy.

Welcome to the world, little man.
And, CONGRATULATIONS, Deborah and John!
